Designing Emotion Cover

Designing Emotion Book Cover
for Capston Publishing

In another book cover brief I was asked to convey the concept of designing emotion as the title of
a book.

By combining the raw and emotive feeling of an ink blot with the tightly designed and kerned book title I tried to show the concept of an emalgamation of design and emotion.

Passion Pit Poster (Screen Print)

Passion Pit Gig Poster

A member of Passion Pit,
the electronic pop music act, approached me to concept
some New Years Eve Gig
concepts.

This concept conveys a play
on the name 'Passion Pit' using
the imagery of passion and
revenge in the poster.

The concept is set up for
a 3 colour screen print.

Passion Pit Poster

Passion Pit Gig Poster

A member of Passion Pit,
the electronic pop music act, approached me to concept some New Years Eve Gig concepts.

This concept takes the concept
of their music as a sonic grenage. The excitement of their live act is conveyed with the imagery whilst showing a more aggressive edge to their normal promotional materials.

What's Stopping You Book Cover

What's Stopping You by Robert Kelsey for Capstone Publishing

Capstone Publishing commissioned me to come up with an interesting solution to the self-help book 'What's Stopping You' by Robert Kelsey.

The concept was to show the breakthrough experience the book gives you. Taking the title of the book and showing it breaking through the cover made a striking typographic and illustrative statement.

Delta Spirite Poster

Delta Spirit Poster for Delta Spirit

Goldenvoice, a music promoter
and venue owner in Los Angeles, commissioned me to design some posters for the up-coming Delta Spirit gig in Los Angeles.

The two concepts I came up with tried to incorporate the sound and feel of Delta Spirits blues influenced music through illustration and photography.

The Ask

The Ask by Sam Lipsyte for Old Street Publishing

I was tasked with creating an illustrative cover for Sam Lipsytes best selling book 'The Ask' by Old Street Publishing.

Taking on the characteristics of the book and the action of literally asking for money i created this Warhol inspired screen print with hand created typography.

A spot UV finish was applied to the black typography alone to help pop it out of the illustration whilst keeping it consistent to the overall feel.

Protect Poster

This illustrative poster was designed in aid of the animals affected by the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill earlier this year.

The poster lists and illustrates all species that are endangered by the disaster with poster sales profits going towards the disaster recovery effort.

Hackintosh - Mac Formate Magazine

Titanic Thompson for Pan MacMillan

This illustration was created
for the proof copy of Kevin Cook's biography detailing the adventures of Titanic Thompson.

The suggested final book cover artwork was used as an inspiration point utilising large format typography and single colour illustrative elements.

Artemis Foul - Puffin Publishing

Artemis Fowl for Puffin Books

These book covers were used in a pitch for the rebrand of Eoin Colfer's famous Artemis Fowl series of childrens books.

Establishing an illustrative style that would work across the range of 7 books was the key to this project.

Jimpster Freerange Records

Jimpster 'Alsace & Lorraine' for Freerange Records

Freerange Records picked these collage images out of my personal illustration work to use on the new Jimpster release.

The collage combines images of my german shepherd with various vintage photographs.

Break for the Border Illustration

Break for the Border and Capital Cities for Voyager Magazine

These editorial illustrations were completed for related features in Voyager Magazine.

The feature articles were business and currency related and utilised my design and typographic skills as well as the illustrative elements.

Collage was the main style throughout with vector colour and texture added later.
